Requirements, safety and documentation that stand up to review
For defence and aerospace teams working to ISO 9001, AS9100D, MIL-STD-882E and DO-178C: keep requirements, hazards and verification traced and controlled, so the evidence is ready when the customer asks.
Defence programs are judged on evidence. The standards they work to expect controlled documents, requirements traced from stakeholder needs to verification, hazards assessed and tracked to closure, and changes made under configuration control. Traceable keeps that evidence as the work happens, in one secure workspace hosted in Sydney, Australia.
What the standards ask for, and how Traceable keeps the evidence
| Standard | What it expects | In Traceable |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 9001:2015 Quality management systems | Controlled documented information (clause 7.5): approved before issue, reviewed and updated, versions identified, obsolete copies prevented. Planned and controlled design and development (clause 8.3), with inputs, reviews, verification, validation and controlled changes recorded. | Every document has a draft and published version, gated review with e-signatures, a change log and a locked PDF on publish, so the controlled copy is always the one people see. |
| AS9100D Aerospace and defence quality management | Everything in ISO 9001, plus aerospace and defence requirements such as configuration management (clause 8.1.2), product safety and the prevention of counterfeit parts. | Published versions are immutable baselines, each change is attributed and dated, and a revision table fills itself from the document’s history. |
| MIL-STD-882E System safety | A system safety process: identify hazards, assess each risk by severity and probability against a risk matrix, apply mitigations in a set order of precedence, verify them, and track every hazard to closure and formal risk acceptance. | Hazards are rows in an ID grid with a classification column that reads each rating off your risk matrix, linked to the requirements that mitigate them and the tests that verify those mitigations. |
| DO-178C Software considerations in airborne systems | Rigour scaled to the software level (A to E), with bidirectional traceability from system requirements to high-level and low-level software requirements, to source code and to verification cases and results. | Every requirement and test carries a TraceID, links run both ways, and the traceability matrix and broken-trace detection show the gaps before a review does. |
| ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 System life cycle processes | Defined processes across the system life cycle, including stakeholder needs and requirements definition, architecture, verification and validation, and configuration management. | Set up a document type and ID prefix for each level, from stakeholder needs to system and subsystem requirements, and trace each level to the one above it and to its verification. |
A summary of what each standard expects, for orientation. Read the standard itself and your contract for the requirements that apply to your program.
Evidence, produced as you work
Traceability at every level
Stakeholder needs, system and subsystem requirements, hazards and tests linked by TraceID, with a requirements traceability matrix and broken-trace detection.
Hazard tracking
A hazard log as structured rows, each rated against your risk matrix and linked to its mitigations and their verification.
Configuration control
Draft and published versions, attributed changes and a locked PDF on every publish, so each baseline is the record of what was approved. See document control software.
Signed approvals
Review and approval with e-signatures inside the document, recorded in its audit trail.
Your structure
Any document type, template and ID prefix, so the documents match your program's contract deliverables.
Hosted in Australia
Data stored on AWS in Sydney. See security and privacy for encryption and access.
Common questions
Does Traceable make us compliant with these standards?
No tool does. Traceable keeps the evidence these standards expect, such as controlled documents, traceability, hazard records and signed approvals. Compliance and certification depend on your quality system, your processes and your auditor.
Where is our data hosted?
Traceable runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in Sydney, Australia. See security and privacy for how data is encrypted and who can reach it.
Can we store classified or export-controlled information?
Ask us first. Traceable is a commercial cloud service, so your security classification and export-control obligations decide what can go into it.
Do we have to use your document structure?
No. Set up any document type, template and ID prefix, so the tool follows the structure your program and your customer require.
